We started with five green strips of construction paper of different lengths. The students arranged them from longest to shortest on the table in front of them, starting from the bottom, and then chose their background paper color. Once the green strips were glued, the kiddos used shape sponges to paint the trunk and the star, which allowed us to review top and bottom. I LOVE projects that do double duty!
